Craving You Page 5

When I watched him punch Eric right in the face, I’d felt wildly justified, and I’d felt horribly turned on. Even when I’d been kissing Eric, my body had just felt good. It had felt pretty nice. When I saw David step up and defend me? I’d gotten downright wet.

That day, everything had changed for me.

After that, I hadn’t been able to think of him in the same way. Oh, I’d eyed him before, of course. When he and my brother would hang out playing basketball in the driveway, it was hard not to notice the way his abs rippled in the sunlight or the way he always seemed to wink when he caught me looking. I’d still always viewed him as off-limits, though, and I’d never thought, not for one second, that he noticed me.

Well, the day in the hallway, he noticed me.

And after he’d punched Eric, he looked up at me, and our eyes locked. David looked different then. He looked like he wanted to fuck me, and the worst part was that I wanted that, too. This little bet he’d offered me? Yeah, it was hands-down a no-brainer. He wanted to give me an orgasm and a date? If that wasn’t an offer to lose on purpose, then I didn’t know what was.

And now we were drinking honey whiskey and talking about my brother’s upcoming wedding like it was the most normal thing in the world.

“Hey,” my brother appeared, seemingly out of thin air. He grabbed me and gave me a hug. Then he pulled back and hugged David, too. “You two found each other.”

“Sure did,” I muttered. Then, I remembered to play it cool. “And congratulations, by the way!” I laughed and clapped and gave Lauren a big hug when she showed up.

“I can’t believe it,” she said. She flashed the ring, and David and I both managed to ooh and ah when we saw it.

“I’m so happy you were both here for this,” my brother told me, and I felt just the slightest pang of embarrassment about the fact that I wasn’t truly happy for him.

“Me too,” I said. It was sort-of a lie, but it was fine.

It was a white lie, and that was what little white lies were for. They were to get people to feel better about themselves and about whatever situation you had found yourself trapped in together.

After a few more hugs and a couple of Dad-style jokes, my brother and his soon-to-be-wife took off to go schmooze and talk to people.

“Well,” David said to me when they were gone. “Looks like we’re going to need more drinks.”

THE HOTEL THE PARTY was at was huge. It was a resort-style place I’d never in a million years be able to afford to stay at, but I didn’t particularly care. I wasn’t staying there, and my brother was paying for drinks, so I’d just take advantage of it and live like the night was ever going to end.

David and I each grabbed another drink and then after some socializing and forced smiles with random colleagues of David’s and random friends of my brother, we dropped our empty glasses on the bar, and sneaked off to find some solitude.

“That’s more like it,” he said when we stepped out of the banquet hall.

“Feels more like a wedding reception than a birthday party,” I commented.

“True,” he said. “But that’s always been Felix’s style.”

“Go big or go home, right?”

  David chuckled and nodded.

  “Right,” he said.

Together, we started walking down the hall of the hotel. It was so wide you could easily fit six people side-by-side in it. Seriously, how the hell had my brother even find this place? It was insane.

“So how long are you in town?” David asked.

“Wondering if you’re even going to have time to take me on a date?” I asked. “You haven’t won the bet just yet, silly man.”

“I’ll win,” he said confidently. Then he smiled at me in a way that would have melted my panties off if I’d been wearing any. David was like a shark circling his prey, and I was the prey. Only, I didn’t feel as scared as I thought I would have.

I definitely didn’t feel as scared as I should have.

  “You seem certain,” I said.

“You might be surprised to hear this,” he said. “But confidence is a good trait in an attorney.”

“What about in a lover?” I asked, raising an eyebrow.

He held a hand to his chest in mock surprise.

“Why, Zoey Lane, are you propositioning me?” David asked. “I am so surprised.”

“Shut up,” I giggled, slapping him playfully.

A couple walked around a corner just then. They looked drunk, and David and I both stepped to the left of the hallway so they could pass us. They were laughing and kissing and pulling at each other’s clothing right in the hallway. We stared, looking as they made their way to the elevator.

“Think they’ll make it to their room?” I asked him as the woman’s shirt came flying off. It landed on the floor, and she seemed to forget about it entirely as she stepped into the elevator with her date.

“I hope not,” he said. “The security guys here probably work pretty hard. They deserve a little show now and then. Don’t you agree?”

“A show?” I asked, looking at him.

  Who was this guy?

  Who talked like that?

And why did the idea of showing off for a group of invisible people I couldn’t see seem to turn me on? It was normal to know that the security cameras at a hotel were carefully monitored, but the idea of doing something specifically for those guys to see was, well, kind of hot.

“Haven’t you ever thought about it?” He asked, stepping closer. I stepped back. My body was pressed against the wall of the hallway, and David was in front of me. I should have been scared or horrified or worried, but I wasn’t. I just kept thinking about how much I wanted to touch him. I thought about how much I wanted to kiss him. If I slid my hand down and reached out to touch his cock, would it be hard for me?

“Thought about showing off for the security team?” I whispered.

“Showing off for anyone,” he clarified.

  “Oh, yes,” I said.

  “And have you?”

“Yes,” I whispered. Why was I being so honest and blunt with him? I really didn’t know. This so wasn’t like me. Usually, I was the kind of girl who liked to sleep with guys and then ditch. I didn’t keep them around long enough to banter. I certainly never kept any of them around long enough to tease. Not like this.

That’s what he was doing, though. He was teasing me. Taunting me. He was toying with me and I was loving every second of it. My pussy clenched in anticipation as David rested his hand on my waist. We hadn’t even kissed yet, and already, I was thinking about what it would feel like to have him slide his fingers inside of me.

That was what I wanted. It was what I was suddenly craving. Okay, so maybe I wasn’t going to win his little bet after all. Then again, maybe I didn’t want to win it in the first place.

“Tell me,” he murmured. He pressed his lips to my cheek, and then to my neck. He kissed me softly there, but his hands were on my waist, and somehow, I felt like I was handing over all of my control. I was giving everything to him, and he hadn’t even kissed my mouth yet. He was teasing me, and I felt suddenly like I had to earn it. Was that what this was all about? He wanted me to beg him?

  Because I would.

  I wasn’t beneath begging.

Not when I felt like this.

“I mean, let’s be honest, David. I’ve got great tits,” I said breathlessly. “Don’t you think some guy hanging out in the security room would love to see them? He’d think it was an accident, but we’d both know the truth.”

“What’s the truth, kitten?” He murmured, nipping at my ear.

“The truth is that I like to be a little bad.”

The words came out before I could stop them. I’d played at BDSM clubs before, and I’d been with partners who liked to top, and I’d been with people who were a little bit wild. I’d been with vanilla people and kinky people and everyone in-between. Yeah. It was safe to say I liked to be bad.

  “How bad?”

“Bad enough that I didn’t wear panties tonight,” I murmured.

I hadn’t planned to say it yet.

To be honest, it sort-of just slipped out. I was glad that it did, though, because his hand slid between my legs and up the inside of my thighs.

“I haven’t even touched your pussy yet and I know you’re wet,” he growled against my ear. “Tell me how I know.”

“Because my legs are wet,” I whispered.

  It was true.

Ever since I’d spotted David at the party, my body had been nothing but turned on. I’d been roaring and ready to go, and I hadn’t even known that he was maybe even slightly interested in me. Well, I sure as hell knew now. I was smart enough to know that a relationship with my brother’s best friend would never work, but a fling? Just one night?

Yeah, that was something I could handle.

“Do you want me to keep going?” He murmured. “We’re in view of a camera. Someone’s getting a show.”

“Yes,” I said before I could talk myself out of it. The hallway had mysteriously become vacant. It was getting late, I reasoned, and there were other events going on. People were getting drunk and cozying up with their partners. They were going back to their rooms or fucking in bathrooms, and we had the hallway to ourselves.

“How high do you want me to go?” David whispered.

“All the way,” I blurted out.

“Like this?” His fingers inched up my leg, but he didn’t touch my pussy. Not just yet. One of his digits just gently grazed my pussy lips, but he didn’t slide it over my clit. Not yet. He was teasing me. No, he was torturing me.

“I need more,” I told him.

  “How much more? Tell me.”

“You want to hear me say it?”

“I want to hear you beg it,” he told me. “I want to hear you demand it.”

“Fine,” I said. I was too far gone, too far aroused, to care anymore. “I want your fingers inside of me,” I said. I was pressed up against the wall in a hotel lobby, and David slid two fingers inside of me.

He hadn’t even kissed me on the mouth yet, and I totally didn’t even care. He fingered me, sliding in and out of my soft pussy, and all I could do was cling to him. I looked toward the camera. Yeah, someone was watching. Did they have their cock pulled out? Were they rubbing themselves to this? Maybe there was one security person. Maybe there were multiple. There was no doubt they knew exactly what we were doing.

We heard laughter headed our way, and David pulled away, stepping back from me. His hands were at his side, and he positioned his back toward the people who rounded the corner and came down the hall. They were laughing and talking. It was a group of girls who were probably in college. Maybe they were here for a wedding. Maybe they were here for my brother’s party. I didn’t know.

They made their way past us, and by the time they’d gone, my heartrate had returned to normal. I took a deep breath and pushed away from the wall. Then I straightened my dress.

“Maybe this was a bad idea,” I murmured, looking up at him. I didn’t want to regret this in the morning. I didn’t want him to, either. Mostly, I didn’t want things between us to become awkward or forced. I’d had enough relationships with people to know that after sex, nothing was normal again. Then again, my brother’s best friend just had two of his fingers buried deep inside my pussy.

I think I left “normal” at the door tonight.

“Is that what you think?” David growled, stepping closer. He reached for my hair, fisting it, and he tugged my head back, so I was forced to look at him. Those bright eyes were searing into my own, telling me everything that his voice wasn’t.

  He wanted me.

  David wanted me.

What was I going to do about that?

He’d made me a bet. He’d bet me that before the end of the night, I’d have the best orgasm of my life. Well, the end of the night was coming soon, but I wasn’t. I hadn’t come. Not yet. There was still time, but not much. I was Cinderella, and the clock was about to strike midnight. Was he going to claim me before my coach turned into a pumpkin?

  “It’s a terrible idea,” I said.

“It’s a great idea, kitten,” he stroked my cheek with one finger, and then he kissed me. One moment, he was just pulling my hair, acting like a normal bad boy, and the next, he was kissing me like he was feral and I was wild and the two of us couldn’t keep our hands off of each other.

David kissed me like fire and ice and magic. His lips were mayhem against my own. His body was electric, and I felt like I was flying.

He claimed my mouth, dominating me with his own, and then, once more, his hand made its way up my leg. I was so damn pleased I’d chosen to wear the dress without panties when his fingers reached my pussy. This time, he didn’t slide anything inside of me. Instead, he just focused on my clit. He rubbed it hard and fast and perfectly while he kept kissing me.

I might have groaned. I definitely whimpered a little as he kissed me and played with me at the same time. It didn’t take very long before I felt the first waves of my orgasm rushing over me, and he pushed me tighter against the wall and kissed me even harder as I came. He was relentless, touching me over and over until he’d completely wrung my body out. I was spent, tired and exhausted, but he was pleased. Satisfied.

I looked up at David as he gently tugged my dress back down to wear it belonged, and then he smiled at me. He slid one of his fingers into his mouth and sucked, licking the juices off of it. It was the dirtiest damn thing I’d ever seen anyone do.

  David was an attorney.

He wasn’t just any attorney. He was one of the best in the city, and he was my brother’s best friend. He was important to our family, and he was important to me, and he was licking my pussy juices off of his fingers in the middle of the best hotel in town.

I gasped a little, but then he kissed me again, silencing my concerns and fears and worries.

“Well?” He whispered against my ear.

  “Well?”

“Was it the best you’ve ever had in your life?”

  I thought about lying.

If I lied, then I wouldn’t have to go on a date with him. There would be no dinner. There would be no playing around. There would just be tonight. I would walk away with my orgasm free and clear. I’d owe him nothing at all.

Only, it had been the best orgasm of my life, and the truth was that I’d liked how he’d played my body like a damn harp. I looked toward the blinking security camera, wondering who was behind the screens in the security room. Had someone watched me? Did they know what I was feeling? Had they come apart, too?

“It was the best,” I told him.

  I wanted more.

I wanted so much fucking more from him.

“Good,” he said. Then he kissed me deeply and when he pulled back, his eyes were twinkling. “I guess this means I win.”

  David

On Monday morning, I had a meeting with my first client of the week. Zander Reynolds was both the bane of my existence and the highlight of my paycheck this month. He ran an enormous company called TechFlurry. They did everything from developing anti-virus software to computer troubleshooting, but Zander had a little problem. He’d been accused of sexually harassing some of his interns. One of their fathers was a lawyer, and they’d chosen to press charges against Zander. The accusations were totally bogus, of course, and he’d made it clear that he’d never done anything the girls had told the police about, but it was messy.

And I was helping him do damage control.

Not only did I have to represent him in court, but I needed to make sure that if Zander did anything like talk to the press or make public appearances, that he knew exactly what he could and couldn’t do. Sexual harassment charges weren’t a joke, and they also weren’t something that could easily be swept under the rug.

When he arrived in my office, he was 10 minutes late, which was normal for him. Any other client, I’d tell to get lost, but Zander’s company brought in a lot of money for the firm. I hadn’t signed up to be a corporate attorney, but criminal defense was my specialty, and I knew exactly what I had to do to help Zander get past this.

“Busy weekend?” He asked, gesturing at my office.

“Are you calling my office messy?” I asked, looking around. The room was spotless. Felix was always teasing me about being too uptight for my own good, and honestly, he was usually right about that. My office tended to be very neat and tidy with little room for personal touches.

Felix was the opposite. Although he was in criminal defense, as well, he mostly represented teenagers and younger clients who may have been caught shoplifting or committing other smaller offenses. His office was sprinkled with pictures of Lauren, as well as a few pictures of Zoey. The photos of Felix’s sister were all from when she was younger. He didn’t have any current pictures there. I’d never asked why, but I assumed it had something to do with reminding himself that we were all young once, and that we’d all made mistakes.

  “No,” Zander said.

“Then sit down and close your mouth,” I snapped. I was irritated, sure. My secretary had told me right before he arrived that even more evidence had come to light surrounding this case, and not all of it was going to be helpful. Correction: none of it was going to be helpful.

Zander must have been surprised at my tone because he sat down and placed his hands on his lap. He looked up at me like I was going to bite. Well, I wasn’t going to bite. I just wanted answers.

“You said you didn’t do this,” I tapped the stack of papers on my desk. It was filled with accusations. At first, there had only been a few, but more and more women had come forward and claimed that he’d threatened their jobs or made unwanted advances. A couple of girls was nothing. Those were accusations we could easily deal with. The more people who came forward, though, the harder the case was going to be to win.

  “I didn’t,” he said, blinking.

“I don’t care if you did or didn’t,” I said. That was a lie. If he had, he was a total scumbag. If he hadn’t, well, he was still a scumbag, but I’d care a lot less. “But you have to be honest with me. I can’t accurately represent you if you aren’t.”
